Last week first start on the 2001. Still waiting on 1 part before real test cutting with it.

The other stock 2005 making test cuts last year. It was used the other day cutting up a truck load of wood. Just because I am testing it with afm topend kits.

Otherwise be using my echo 501's

Guy just posted his dad's XP 1000 in my group.

Been trying to figure out what homie that racer built his from.

Using rear handles to look at mostly to narrow it down.

Didn't they switch from blue to red somewhere around 1980?

The 2000 was late 60's.

Talking about history of vintage stuff. Heck of a thread going on and share some.

Since nobody guessed it.

Can you say 10ci 090. That is the big boy of them all.

10-24 made is the rumor. 2 was sent to Aussie to be tested and told to keep there at their dealers.

NOS stuff from a collector of over 400 saws that are unreal.

2001 346 calling it good. Tested and tuned to my 40:1 VPracing oil and Efree 89 mix.

Last few parts I was waiting on came in yesterday evening. Muffler bracket was main thing.

I just put hole through bracket to match the muffler that was already on saw when came to me.

1 pull hot starts. While testing. Can’t ask for much more.

Pic of afm piston after first run and test last week was all good.

Mesh and felt filters. Black is winter mesh. You dont want that unless cold weather cutting.

Way back when I owned them all. Just some info.

OE 346 42mm 45cc 14.7k for the 346.

NE 50.1cc new one is 14.1K and has more torque in the cut then OE 45cc. Owned several of each. 🍻

12" hard maple 1 cut times with same 3/8 chain on all saws.

3/8 7 was used because it will test the torque the saws have or dont have. Back then 325 chain didnt have a chance to cut with 3/8 chains.

But todays new 325 chains are sweet. Running newer stuff on all my small saws. Like C33 and newest 23RS

Choose your poison and go cut it dont matter just go cut.

stock husky 346xp 50cc 3/8 7T 5.63 5.62

stock dolmar 5105 with 5100 muffler 3/8 7T 5.59 5.50

stock partner 5000 , 3/8 7T 5.47 5.84 (30 years old) and tuned 2k lower WOT but same in the wood rpm.

stock 357xp, 3/8 7T 4.29 4.34

Found a old chain I didnt remember. Must have come on one of the 550 18" set ups when bought new or a guy that brought in a 550 and I swapped him a better set up.

Turns out it is H30 husqvarna NK 325.

Comparing in pic to C33 new loop putting on that 346 50cc.

Might compare them all some day to see. H30 C33 23RS.

H30 reminds me of that SP33 chain just looking at it.

To be fair...reed saws are very easy to get power out of. Put a set of Boysen reeds on and bam...race saw.

You would think a 088 carb would fuel that a lot better than a tillitosn HL carb.

Hell, I have that carb on a McCulloch super 250 and I think it fails to keep up.

How are they supplying enough fuel for that volume of cylinder?

I always wondered what the racers used on them out west.

I know the guy that owns this saw right now. He is in my group.

Collector of vintage saws. Said he has over 400 now.

Not compared to this one I bet. ;) We talking real racesaws.

You know racers builders are not going to leave the stock porting no matter how good they are from get go.

Not just a set of boy reeds. Everyone knows about the reeds.

But yes they are good runners stock with boys. But they can be done even better yet.

Took 1st in class that day.

Least now I know where all the NOS p+c's for them are at now too.🍻

Gave those mesh filter a really good hot water and dawn scrubbing with a toothbrush. Cleaning the old way of just a brush and air wasnt cutting it.

Will test again once dry to see compared to new felt filter.
