Our driveway is a long, dirt road (sugar sand) through heavy woods with a couple of blind turns. Yesterday, I was in a rush to get to the local TSC before they closed, and as I rounded a turn I scared off a deer out of the road. But there was something else.... a rabbit maybe? Nope. A tiny newborn fawn. I managed to skid to a stop about 4 or 5 feet before hitting it. I got out to check and it was trying to find it's legs and scoot out of the way. By the size of it, probably not more than a day or two old.

Thanks!

But it's really not all that great. All we had was my wife's cell phone camera and it doesn't do that good of a job.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could measure that fawn's age in hours rather than days. It's pretty neat to see nature doing what it's supposed to do. Thanks for the picture. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can't believe that you would even post such a thing. Give it a chance and it might turn out to be another Bambi....

yeah, another Bambi that you guys will be talking about how you hunted it during the fall, or that you shot because it was in your garden or something.............I knew this wouldn't be a popular position, but is sure seems hypocritical to want this one to survive just because it's cute and others to die..........

That ain't no Bambi, it can't talk. Next year it'll be a "Yearling" and just like his mom told Jodie that thing will be jumpin' a 9" high fence to git at the sweet corn in the kitchen garden. Then his pappy'll git bit by a timber rattler and have to drink a gallon or so of corn squeezin's but the corn got et by the yearling and so he'll die. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Lots of apologies to Gregory Peck and the rest of the cast and crew for the slight modification of the story line but this ain't the movin' picture show. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good thing the area I live in has no poisonous snakes. Cause there sure ain't no corn to make the squeesins with cause the long legged rats ate all the corn.
