Is this the one that goes on with the 3PH and has a rear PTO turbine installed in the line? Why wouln't the leaves be chewed up by the mowing deck blades as you go over them? My previous tractor (Wheel Horse 520) had a bagger and the leaves got chopped up pretty good going in.

I ask because I was planning on getting this bagger with the 60" MMM deck this weekend. Is this something you would recommend against?

Hey Bob:
I certainly would not attempt to discourage you from getting the Kubota catcher. Yes, I do have the 3 point hitch version which is powered from the rear PTO. Keep in mind the catcher essentially does not chop up the leaves any more than they get while you're mowing. If you look inside at the impellers that create the suction, you'll see that there are only five or six of them. They're well rounded and are not sharp. I don't think you could sharpen them because they're not made of metal. Sharpening may also detract from the suction. I'm not complaining of its abilities, but I didn't think I would have to empty the baggers as much as I do. Keep in mind my leaves are all oak. One thing I can say...no matter how thick the leaves, or how wet they are when I get them up, I can make a pass and all I see when I look back is grass...no leaves...without exception. I bought mine exclusively because of the trees, not for catching grass. The advantage to the 3ph version is that its mobile and goes where you do. Its no harder to manuever with it on than when its off. My dad has an Agri-Fab pull behind connected to his Troy-Bilt. It does a great job, but the impellers on his are metal, and there's more of them. His will grind the leaves into an almost powder consistency.I contacted the folks who make the Agri-Fab model, and they do sell an adapter if you've got a 60"mmm. Seems like the adapter was around $35.Compare prices...I gave $1650 for my catcher. I use it the least of any of my attachments, but when you need it, nothing else will work.
