Please post in the forum that is closer to help than the member introduction. Maybe the Deere Lawn Garden or Deere Operating would get some others who have experience with the problem.
Sounds like a shear pin.

Check your belts, you likely smoked one when it was frozen. Check your clearance between the fan and shroud. Make sure there is no slop in any shafts.
There should be a weep hole there . If not you could add one.
Do you park the machine inside where its heated? That could be a problem. Might want to use fluid film or similar on the chute area to prevent sticking.
Could be a shear on the fan as well as BT suggests.
