John Deere rep going to take tractor

Basically all of the postings above happened to me also.... the wifey and I stopped into the local green dealer as the first stop.... looking for a 1025r. They couldn't be bothered to come out to show us, just pointing us to the row of tractors. Then it was like pulling teeth to get them to answer any questions... we left and went to the Kubota dealer.... got the same BS! We left and went home.

I am glad we did.... after searching for other dealers / brands, I stumbled across LS. When I spoke with the dealer, I felt like a real customer! He bent over backwards to answer my questions, even staying late to make sure I was satisfied! The next morning I called him back and made the deal (beating the JD and Kubota prices by at least $6K). I drove 550 miles (each way) to go pick up the tractor. When we arrived, his staff dropped what they were doing and treated us like royalty!

I now own my second LS tractor, the experience was the same on the second tractor. When (and if) I need a third.... it will be an LS...

JD and Kubota can kiss my "you know what"....

Same exact thing happened to me. Although with Kubota, Landini and New Holland. They couldn't be bothered to even show their tractors or even look at my two trade in ( I had pictures with me).

JD doesn't sell compact tractors here, unless special ordered. Long story short, ended up on a small dealer that sells Case and Branson tractors. Case doesn't have any options smaller than 60HP here.

I didn't knew much about Branson but went home and did my research. Then the dealer came to my house, looked at my two trade in, we worked out a price on the Branson and the two trade in and got an heck of a deal.

Beat the price of the equivalent Kubota and NH tractors for about €4500 or $5400 and got a lot more features that came standard versus the others that would ask top dollar for those features. My tractor came standard with telescopic stabilizers, Quick attach hooks on the lift arms, a set of remotes, an awesome fully adjustable seat, draft control and more stuff that I'm probably forgetting now.

Good reason to tell John Deere to kiss your sweet A**. There are other brands just as good and most likely MUCH cheaper than the green paint and plastic hood.

The JD dealers around me are a conglomerate. All owned under one name but trading as independent. I'm like the others and would walk away from that deal! Plenty of other iron out there to purchase. Good luck.

The "difference in price" may boil down to the 0% financing is not truly 0%...at least when I bought my 4066R last December. I was given the option of 0% financing OR an additional discount ($1750 or so). The salesman was very upfront about it and didn't pressure me either way.

We have also seen several Mom and Pop dealers bought out by a larger dealer. On the surface, I'm skeptical this will be to the consumer's benefit. However, so far so good here with the exception some consolidation in store locations.

As for the "John Deere Rep" taking the tractor? "Maybe, kinda, sorta" not out of the realm of possibilities. For example, (this may of changed) over a decade ago I know JD provided favorable dealer floor planning where if another dealer had a legitimate retail sale for a tractor, then the dealer in possession of the tractor had to either give up the tractor or its favorable floor plan.

That could be entirely true! My dealer absorbs those 'additional' 0% financing fees so the customer doesn't pay anymore for the longer term. I was able to get 0% for 84 months and a $1,750 discount off MSRP on my recent purchase.

And...reading through all the posts...it just shows you how important a good dealer truly is and how bad a private dealer/franchise can make a tractor brand look. I'm glad I have a great Kubota dealer in my area.

I would take them at their word. A (an alledged) JD rep told you that they don't want your business so take it elsewhere.

You're making me feel my dealer doesn't love me as much as your dealer loves you. If you also got a free hat I don't want to hear about! :)

I would tell them ALL - put their tractor & deal WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE. You DO NOT want anything from people that deal like this. Can you imagine trying to get after sales service from these folks?

I don't really give a poop what brand it was - look for a different tractor and dealership.
Totally agree. Find another Brand, get the regional rep’s name and report it to corporate Deere. Tell them he is the reason they lost a sale and you are going with another Brand. What a piece of work.

I might find it difficult to control my middle finger, while even driving by that dealership!

It's called Co-Op.

Low rate financing ain't free. Money costs money. Most of the time, the factories make the Dealers kick in for the low or zero financing. No, that's not accurate -- ALL the time.

It's like buying down a loan. You can get a lower interest rate on a loan by paying points up front. Very common.

Every vehicle I've ever bought has been that way. Got 0% on the War Department's, er, er, the Dear Wife's car but I got $2k less in incentives from Ford. Pencil said it was cool.

Sausage making, ain't it fun??

VERY true. At least now, after government intervention years back, it is sometimes more transparent. ("Sometimes" and "more", but not always, or perfectly transparent.)

Usually, the last thing in the world to volunteer early on to the sales folks is you plan to pay cash.(This varies by industry, most definitely automotive and RV). Often times they will cut a better sales price in hopes of a nice big bonus/commission/kickback from the financing. Same thing with extended warrantees, dealer added accessories/services (like paint sealant...). There's a reason once a car salesman closes a deal you don't get the keys until a visit to the friendly finance guy!

I hear ya!

What you're referring to is how the F&I guy will often get a buyer to to agree to a 5% loan and then sell the paper for 4% to another (or the same) lender and keep the point. Between that and 60% commission 'extended warranties' a lot of F&I guys are living fat. I'll get up and walk out on them. I don't play with those buffoons.

Had a guy insist on financing me through a stoopid rate one time, took it and the deal and re-financed it two weeks later. They've closed that loophole now. Gotta keep the loan open for a year. At that time it cost the Dealer a bunch of money. They had to pay the bank all kinds of fees.

These days, the big-boys don't play. If you're going through Ford, Deere, Ally, Kubota or a major player, they don't have time for that nonsense. You're pretty safe. Pretty up-front.

It's usually the Dealers you have to watch. The bigger they are, the more likely to be straight they are. Not always, but more likely.
