John Deere 4700 won't go into gear

I was using my JD 4700 Power Reverser today. However, when moving some wood I heard a "thud" or "clunk" and the tractor would not go in gear. After trying different gear ranges with no success, I put it in 4WD. The front tires moving and I was able to get it back to my house. Also, I had some success using the differential lock. I looked underneath and didn't see anything that looked broken or leaking etc. Any idea where I should start looking? Any advice?

I was at the tractor repair shop and they found the problem.

In the future if you open JDparts.com go to PC10440 for model 4700 then enter a part #(M808491)in search window then schematics with part # application locations will appear as shown in photo below.
