John Deere 4700 valve adjustment

I have a 4700 that calls for a valve adjustment. Has anyone here ever done that or know of a reference to how it's done? I have adjusted valves in cars, trucks, & motorcycles but never a John Deere. Specifically: What is the lash. How do you relieve compression. & Best way to rotate the engine.
