John Deere 445 surging after mowing for 30 min. then it runs fine for awhile then cuts out again.

Is this a gas or a diesel? Almost sounds like there is something in the fuel tank that is plugging off the fuel inlet at times.

Check the air vent on the fuel tank and or fuel tank cap to be sure it is working and not plugged.
