Comparison John Deere 4052R vs 4066R

That's it, where were you guys when I was arguing with Island last week on the Kioti forum who thinks we're all dopes for getting higher hp tractors than his 40hp?

Yeah, I get tired of the "you will run out of traction before you run out of power" thing. It seems those people forget that a tractor has a PTO in addition to a drawbar.

I don't think the "prime directive" for buying a higher Hp CUT is working heavy, ground engaging implements.

At 58-59hp @ pto, could pull a 3-4 bottom plow, a 12 ft. finish disc harrow. But, with a tractor weight of 4,000lbs. or so; it would make better sense to buy those same HP's in a 5065E.

Except, I'd much rather rake and mow and tedd my small, irregular fields with cruise control and A/C and iPod in the cab of a 4720 or 4066R than a 5000 series.

And, I have a 5000 machine.

With Rim Guard in all four wheels, my 60hp Kioti weights around 7400 pounds before I attach a 3PT.

That said, I looked at used 5083e. It was attractive on value as I could have gotten into a pimped out 2012 5083e for less than a HST 60ish hp machine, but in the end, I wanted an HST for my expected use.

No regrets whatsoever!

Larry,
I think that at least for me it goes back to a prior discussion we had about wanting a 5000 series with a hydro transmission. You are correct that a compact isn't the best type for ground engagement but for small jobs it can work.

What I would like to have is a tractor that maneuvers like my lawnmower, has 600 hp and uses 1 gal/hr and can tow with a small pickup. Haven't seen any offered so far.

Here's a few pics I took Friday from a waterway we are seeding. So far tractor as been really nice. Only complaint is it can get light on front tires some times.

Light front ends are no fun. :no If you add a few weights, it will take care of the problem. ;)

I have 6 70# weights on mine and that will help with the light front end. Looking at your new tractor (very nice) I was wondering what your rear tire air pressure in? Looks to be too high.
