John Deere 310D
Hello all!
Great forum here!
My father in law bought this back hoe and I work on it, not in it, on it. We got it home and it was definitely used.
Right now, wea re trying to get it to move forward. It will move backwards and all of the hydraulics work fine. It just will not move forward at all. I can see the drive shaft trying to move, but it will not go forward at all.
This weekend I am going to try looking at the forward reverse solenoid, but without a wiring diagram, I am stuck. Now that I know what the wires are for (three wires and then two more)
Any help would be great!
I will try reposting this in the construction part too.

I bought a 310D and sometimes I can't find the neutral position for the shuttle transmission. If you shut off the tractor with the trans stuck in fwd or rev, the neutral safety switch will not allow the tractor to start. There are two soleniods attached to the shuttle shift transmission. They act as valves to control oil flow through passages in the housing they are attached to. Similar to the valve body passages in a car's automatic transmission. There is nothing to clean in that housing. I am back to thinking my problem is the actual switch on the steering column.

When you go for parts, be sure to take a healthy check book.

Your JD dealer should have an on-line parts book. I was told a wiring diagram doesn't exist.

Lift the rear wheels off the ground with the stabilizers, then try putting it in fwd and reverse. Are the brakes releasing?
