The belt from the PTO to the deck keeps getting thrown. I have an OEM Deere belt and appears to be routed correctly. Any ideas?

Sometimes when belts get thrown off they bend some of the belt guides. Just thought. " If they're out of place". Do all the bearings seem tight?

Could be that the tension arm spring is getting tired. Is there a way to increase the tension?

If not, maybe a new spring would be the cure.

First like to say I'm sorry for the two posts for the same problem. Here is where I am now It is the wrong belt so I will have the correct one soon. Second I think the tensioner arm is bent. Its the arm that holds the two pulleys that the pto belt goes to the deck. I will remove it and take a pic. Does anyone have a picture of a good tensioner arm?

Do any of the tensioner bar angles or the pully alignment look off? IMG_0338 (1).JPG

... Here is where I am now ...

THREE posts... Have you read them all?

Which thread should the replies be on?

Might as well stay on here Egon. Not that it matters since Chaz doesn't read and reply to direct questions per se.

This is either his, a neighbours (Like the X300) or a 'customers'. I'm guessing not the former.

Chaz: Now read very carefully... Your weird camera angles are not very conducive to determining straightness or otherwise - But the 'end-on' view in the third pic seems to display a curved arm at about the 'V'-pulley mounting bolt.

Now - In words of one syllable - You did not read the first two threads you wrote did you ? If you did you would see the pic I put up of the arm with a belt guide. Go find that pic.

Find that pic and compare to yours and you will see the missing parts. The guide that keeps the belt on.

Going from your X300 thread you don't seem to have much knowledge of belts, idlers & bearings. I can almost 'sense' the bearings in these two idlers are dry and noisy. I suggest you find the belt guide plate (or make a new one) and replace both idlers at the same time you straighten the bent arm.

That you fail/refuse to answer reasonable questions means it is frustrating trying to help you. Good luck.

You post questions and get given answers for free from others as well as me. Some ask more questions to try and refine the diagnosis. You never answer the questions. Multiple questions asked of you. None answered...

Your posts contain spurious info. (X300 was 'yours' then it became your 'neighbours'.)

Nothing is 'broken off' your tensioner. The picture shows a bolted-on component. It was posted for your information and you choose to "assume" it "was a different model".
Why would I post a pic of a different model??

Assume your way to success. I don't care about your' background in other fields'. I care that your mower is repaired to working order and you don't seem to want to be helped. Good luck in all your fields.

I saw the belt guide in one pic but mine does not have one so I assumed the pic I was shown was a different model.

If we'd have only known that bit of feedback, then a quicker solution would have been forthcoming.
We'd have known 1) that chazdo2 actually saw the reply showing the belt guide in the pic, and 2) that he was missing this important feature that keeps the belt from being thrown off.

Spanner comes across rough on some, but he is very responsive to chasing down a solution for the problems presented. He shares his expertise for the benefit of members who are lost.

Plus, everyone can learn something from the trading back and forth of information. The fact that the subject heading is definitive means that it will search well in the future when someone has a similar problem.. "throwing deck drive belt".

Hopefully chazdo2 will hang in here and hopefully we'll learn that he gets his 212 problem fixed.

Chaz.

In your first post on this subject, I tried to help you based upon the supplied info.

I posted marked up diagrams etc.

In return, you never did answer my questions.

In your profile you list the following: walk behind power drive 21

You are now asking about a 212. Previously it was an X300.

I am completely confused and have to move on.

Since you are now clearly dealing with an old garden tractor, the people on the forum linked below are real experts in restoring old lawn and garden machinery and may be prepared to walk you through your problem(s).
