My JD 2030 starting stutting down under load. I thought it was a dirty fuel filter, so I changed it. After bleeding the air, it still will start, but a few secondss (sometimes a minute) and die. I have pulled it on the road to be sure that the air is all gone. I have also blown out the fuel lines - good flow. What do I do next?

Thanks

It sounds like you might have a bad injection pump. A sealing ring in these pumps sometimes goes bad and causes the fuel return line to clog. Too much case pressure builds up in the housing and causes it to shut down. To check it out, there is a small cover on the side of the pump which is held by 2 screws. Remove that cover and see if there is any black ground up rubber that resembles coffee grounds. Put a bucket under the pump before you do since some fuel will leak out. While the cover is off, try starting the tractor, it should stay running since the return fuel can now leak out into the bucket. The only option if this happens is to removethe pump and send it to a fuel shop to be rebuilt or buy another pump. Rebuilding is usually alot cheaper if you can wait a few days to get it back.
