John deere 2010

[Mobil mech]

Replacing starter. The original is a prestolite with the solenoid inside the nose cone. Parts are no longer available from my rebuilder. I got a delco direct replacement. Problem is that the ringgear rides all the way down in the V on the drive causing the starter to bind. There is no way to shim it out. I compared it to one from john deere but couldnt see any difference. My deere dealer and rebuilder only show one starter for a 2010 diesel. My ser is 64444. Tbe data plate says 2010 R.

I couldn't find any spec's on the starter in question. Here's a substitute starter.

Is this a collector tractor to park in a row with a 110, 510,710,1010,3010,4010 & a 5010? Otherwise I can't recommend sinking repair money into a 2010.

Buickanddeere. This is their dads ol tractor. Still use it to shred about 20 acres

Just missed my own Dad's 2355. He never bothered to tell me he was trading it for a 5083E. I asked him and he said he didn't think I would want it. Beats me why he wouldn't at least inquire? He did the same thing two years ago with a snowmobile too.

With all the problems I read about that the new JD 5000 series have I'd rather have the 2355.

Anybody know of an after market source to get the cables for the rock shaft? Deere wants $456 a piece.

jdparts says NLA for that cable. What is the part # ?

Have you tried soaking the cables in some diesel or oil?

Parts houses that specilize in truck/semi parts can generally build cables to match your need. seems a tad steep for an hd 4' cable but vintage parts in general are spendy.

Here is one of the after market company's that I buy parts for my JD 2010 built in 1963...Pardon Our Interruption. I have been very fortunate finding some parts on ebay.com, and at a good price. Hope it helps you.....Have a Blessed Day.
