Can anyone tell me what happens when the relief valves in a 140 goes bad? Mine works every once in a while and will make the tractor move very slowly when idling but stops moving when the tractor is throttled up.

Hi,i just changed one of my relief valves on my jd 140' when the valve is bad and there is one for forward and reverse, tractor will not move in that direction. you can try and soakin brake fluid because they can get dirty but if that doesn't work you will need to replace the bad valve. there is a place in michigan i believe it is Lj hydraulics and they have the valve for around 66.00. that transmission should be a Sunstran.these valves are about 130 at a john deere dealership. i have to check my notes for the exact info.if you want me to.hope this helped
