I ran it over an hour sitting at a high idle....

That's not good without some kind of load on it. Great way to glaze the cylinder liners and make it an insatiable oil burner. :ashamed:

I was running my wallenstein chipper, so it had plenty of loads off and on. I wouldn't just let it set to see if it got hot, diesel is $4 a gallon! Good to know though.
