Re: Jim\'s new projects

And here is the porch from the side. I put a very slight slope on it to help run off the rain water.

Tomorrow, we will cut the expansion seams in the floor and then the hardest part will be waiting until I can put my stuff in there /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Fortunately, I am going away for 4 day and will not be back until next week! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Jim\'s new projects

I just leveled off part of the driveway yesterday. I spread 15 tons of 2B stone and 15 tons of 2A modified with powder in 4 hours! The articulating capabilities of the 425 really allowed me to move quickly around and get into tight places.

I DID pucker one time though. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I just straightened the tractor out and she came right back down. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Isn't it amazing how you get comfortable with the machine and the work just flows so well? They really are workhorses. The amount of time saved is incredible.

It sure is... I was sweating it because we have my son's rehersal dinner for his wedding at our house on Friday and I thought it would take me 2-3 days to spread that much stone.

A bigger non-articulated tractor just wouldn't make sense for all of the things I want to do.

Next task, cut back the hill some more /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Jim\'s new projects

I moved the airplane in to the new building. I'll have pics tomorrow.

I used the PT to tow the airplane by the tail wheel.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

Jim,
Airplane pictures are in the same league as tractor pictures in my book!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif We sure like tractor pictures, so ... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I think the whole point of the new building project was to allow space for all your "attachments" a good closeup of your airplane "attachment" is in order /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif just to show the proper use of the storage space!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Jim\'s new projects

I'm gonna have to pull the airplane back out and take a picture of the PT pulling it around. I used the receiver hitch that I welded up with some "custom" connectors, (can you say tie straps?)

Re: Jim\'s new projects

Well, now that the boy got married off this past weekend, I can focus on more importan... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Uhhh, I mean other stuff...

The floor of the building is finished and I have a bunch of my goodies in there. It's time to start digging again. While I am waiting for the stone for the front, I decided to make the RV parking spot wider so that I can open the side storage compartments while it is parked. The stone wall will go here. This means that I need to take about 12 more inches off of the hill. The dirt is quite dry and packed hard. I have to go slowly because of the building behind me. You all know what it is like to slam the reverse pedal /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I took a pic after digging out about 6 feet with the mini hoe. I was able to finish most of it tonight down to the bottom. It went slow because I was afraid of hitting the building, but I did make good progress.

I would raise the mini hoe with the bucket pointed down and then apply down pressure while backing up. I never really had to use the curl but maybe 3-4 times to reposition the bucket for a better angle.

Nice tool! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Jim\'s new projects

Hey!

We finally started on the stone for the front. I will post some pics this weekend. I also started to grade the topsoil out. I spread some grass seed early this morning.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

To put the concrete layer on the front of the garage I had to move the pallet boxes of stone out of the way so the concrete mixer could get in there. The pallet forks came in handy for this. The boxes must have been around 7-800 lbs as the back end wanted to come up off the ground several times.

And did...

This is the concrete layer that was spread on the front to prep for the stone veneer.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

And here's the entire front of the building with the layering complete. There is a wire mesh under the concrete that is stapeled to the building. This gives the layering something to grab on to.

Re: Jim\'s new projects

I would guess that so far the most useful service that this little guy has provided is in the ability to dig. I think I really saved a bundle of cash and convenience by not having to rent a skid steer and back hoe every time I want to go out and dig or spread dirt.

And it cuts grass too! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
