JD or Yanmar?

This was a Import. Dealer wouldn't elaborate how it ended on the lot. I knew what it was and the same dealer had a lot full of Refurbished Yanmars!! Looked as though it just rolled off a boat. 2008 012 on the Tach. and showing 978 I put on it. I'll roll the Hr. meter next Yr.. I had to paint the rims finishing cleaning it up. That was about it. Oil. filter Etc..
Fredricks Equipment. Supplied the dealer tractors also.

Not my business, but if that was my situation, I'd probably consolidate to one newer Yanmar.

The only reasons I didn't get a Yanmar were dealers proximity and price. They were still a lot cheaper than a similar JD. From my view, a much better machine. The only advantage of the JD is proximity of dealers.

The other thing with the JD, having owned a 4230 100 HP is that JD has their own way of doing things...probably to keep the after market bucks in their pocket where others tend to adapt their tractors to available after market things that others use...shows up in the price you have to pay for JD stuff.

Yanmar is a proven resource. I'd go with them unless you gave me a specific reason why not!

There are a lot of gray market tractor importers, especially on the west coast.

But they have been doing it for decades. It’s not new. There is also a good amount of supplies for most tractor models. Almost all cases, better support than something brand new or anything with TYM in it.

Grey market refers to how they were imported, not about the quality.

The problem is that those models get no domestic support (warranty, parts etc.) in the US.

The thing of it is that John Deere isn’t very good at supplying parts for their Japanese compacts like the 755,855 and 955 either so I’d tend to think that the Yanmar would be a good choice
