I am expanding my haying operation and am currently putting up 150 acres twice a year and am considering buying either a 5525 Jd or 5101e and I am also considering a mf 5455. Was wondering if anyone has experience with any of these tractors and what would be the best for the money and best value. Any input would be greatly appreciated

First, "Welcome to the forum":)

Not knowing anything about the condition of the specific tractors it is hard to advise which one to pick.

What I would consider if on a level playing field is the transmissions in those tractors, the MF is available with two versions with the latter having more power and a powershift transmission. Which one of these are you looking at?

Might want to look into a 5105M Deere too while you are at it. Compare the rear differential to the 5101E and you will find that the M is more substancial. The M is more costly but more tractor, more gear speeds better hydraulics and better operator station.

Both are good tractors. The MF5455 is a verry nice tractor with many options.
MF is offering 0% for 72 months right now or if you pay cash or go with the standard rate they will throw the loader in for FREE.

i would get the deere with power reverser and cast iron rear wheels. a 5525 is 75 pto horsepower that should be enough for any haying.i have a 5510 with 3500 hours on it.i also have mf tractor.if i had only one tractor it would be a deere ,if you are broke down my deere dealer either has the part or can get it over night .
