JD new X-series

THIS IS NO COMPETITOR TO THE BX2200.

-NO THREE POINT
-NO ROPS
-NO 2 SPEED DIFF
-NO FLAT DECK
-SMALL FEL WITH LOTS OF REAR COUNTER WEIGHT
-LOOKS LIKE SMALLER FRAME
-LIGHT DUTY FRONT END

ITS SAD A COMPANY AS BIG AS DEERE CAN NOT MAKE A SUB COMPACT TRACTOR AS GOOD AS THE COMPETITION, AT AN EQUAL PRICE. THE BX 2200 HAS BEEN OUT ALMOST 2 YEARS AND THIS IS THE BEST DEERE CAN DO, SAD VERY SAD. BEAN COUNTERS AND BUSINESS GRADS ARE GOOD FOR STOCK HOLDERS BUT DO NOTHING FOR THE PEOPLE THAT WANT TO BUY THERE EQUIPMENT. HEY DEERE WANT TO BUILD BETTER LAWN TRACTORS
- HIRE SOME KUBOTA OWNERS
- READ TRACTOR BY NET
- FIRE SOME BEAN COUNTERS

If these prices are reasonably accurate, someone at JD is smoking the funny tobacco. Whotheheck is the target customer? You've got a lawn tractor that you can hang a loader on, but it looks like it is really being sold as a mower. If all I want is a mower, I'm going to stop at around $3500 absolute max (I'd probably stop at about $1800 for my lot)

Either we're missing something big-time here, or the design and marketing groups at JD aren't living in the same world.

Tom you are exactly right, they are not living in the same world! They live in JD world where customers willingly hand over thousands of dollars just because it is green and has some supposed history/legacy behind it. In other words--JD is telling it's customers you ought to count yourself lucky we even will sell you tractor at all--Deere is the best--bla, bla, etc.
I do not think that will cut it in the world economy and as far as a legacy is concerend I think Kubota has been around about the same length of time and has an equally or even better world wide reputation. For two years we have been hearing how JD would beat the BX from all the Green guys and all I see is a worked over lawnmower with that same soccer goal loader straped on it they had two years ago. Very sad and actually very disappointing because I do believe in competetion, to bad the BX has none. J

Men, Guys, Boys... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

You're all getting too excited over speculation and rumors...

Actually what difference does it really make.../w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

The only thing I see, this JD X-series looks like a premium garden tractor line... nothing more or nothing less...

What do you guys consider the definition of a sub-compact tractor...?

Now, what do you consider a garden tractor?

You guys are getting all worked up over a Garden Tractor...? /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

I can actually see where this tractor will have a niche. There have to be some people who aren't going to buy any rear implements but still want a loader to make life easier for "small" landscaping duties. It's just that the price should be a good bit less than the BX or it will never draw any but the JD loyal. Maybe the prices are incorrect...

Jeff

I keep looking at it thinking that a couple of JD flags are supposed to hang from those sticks on the fel./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

John, my sentiments exactly. Sounds like a little bashing going on here regarding a product nobody here has first hand experience nor knowledge of. How can any objectivity be arrived at without either? I hope for all the best with JD's new lineup for without competition, Kubota and others would be medicore at best. Rat...

What do you guys consider the definition of a sub-compact tractor...?

New category sized between a garden tractor and compact tractor. Subcompact tractors have most compact tractor features, but are smaller and scaled down. Available with a 3-point hitch, power take-off, and optional 4WD. Usually under about 25 horsepower. ROPS, diesel engine.

Now, what do you consider a garden tractor?

No ROPS, no 4WD, no category 1 3-point hitch, no PTO, etc. Also, the lack of a standard diesel engine... most manufacturers do offer one or sometimes two with a diesel engine, though.

I've seen the photos posted here before, but I overlooked the fact that this was the anticipated 'subcompact' from JD, because it looks like a garden tractor. To me, it looks like an updated version of the 400 series, with a 4WD option. But I can't make that conclusion just yet. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Hmm, and again ... I suppose we missed the fact that JD seems to consider this a Lawn & Garden Tractor, as you'll see on the spec sheet. Perhaps JD is looking to put out the best L&G tractor on the market ... and the first to offer 4WD? The pricing doesn't look to be all that much more than the 400 series ... assuming those are accurate prices. Looks like comparing the X and BX would be like comparing apples and oranges, IMO. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Don't laugh....there is actually such a thing as a TWO-stroke diesel engine. I read about them at howstuffworks.com. Pretty neat stuff. :)

Two stroke, yes.
Four stroke, yes.
Three stroke, I don't think so.
