Is there a reason you want a medium duty if you're just cutting grass?

I have to buy heavier stuff because I have some awful bumps and planted rocks, but if I were just cutting smoother fields, I'd be using a lighter-duty cutter.
I think pretty much the reasons you give.
I generally don't know what I am going into for a pasture, unless it is a repeat customer, so as we all know a nice smooth looking field can turn into a beast!

the E series is a lite duty tractor + lite duty mower 6' max for a 3038 5 ' for a 3032 if you want an mx mower buy a bigger tractor a 3 r or 4 series
Easy to suggest someone else "just get a bigger tractor", not your money.
I didn't say I wanted an MX mower, I asked if it might be a workable mower behind what I already have. My assumption was not really, but there is one for sale a decent price and I have no practical experience with one to judge by so I asked. As it turns out it is not only a little heavy but has gearbox issues I was unaware of. My money would be better spent on a different cutter.

Landpride makes one similar to the bushhog sq84t

Out of my price range at this point but these are interesting none the less.
Good ones to keep an eye out for used.

Good point
or even just buy a 7’ finish mower if there’s a good deal on one?
Id rather cut pasture grass with a sharp twin spindle bush hog just in case I had to cut some rough areas.
I used my medium duty cutter in tall fields all the time.

I've got a 6 foot finish mower and have used it in taller grass and it doesn't like it.
Some of the open areas I do are like your picture, but they let them grow up more before cutting. The ground is somewhat rough, so speed is limited. The 5 footer cuts with ease so my thought is maybe a 6 at the same speed will reduce total time some and still cut well.
Just on here discussing options for a decent 6 footer that may be workable in my situation.
I almost got a Woods but the HP requirements were higher and the guy at the dealer said in their experience it really needed 35-40 HP so I didn't go with it.
The JD and the Land Pride have lower ratings so maybe a better choice.

I like the Bush Hog squealer and Land Pride twin spindles (used) for your situation. Youd get a wider cut but HP requirements seem lower. Twin spindle mowers are really nice cutters. Something about 2 smaller bales doing a better job than one bigger blade

Thank you, I am certainly going to research them more.
