I have the JD 4400 with the new axle and IM having trouble with it seeping oil at the steering cylinder knuckle ends. This tractor will leak just setting there so I know it isn’t hot grease. Is there anyone else having trouble with this?

Paul,

Had a conversation today with a fellow that purchased a new 4500 w/4wd in Nov 1999. He told me it had the new axle when delivered. During our discussion he mentioned that while doing a 100 hr service, his mechanic noted the front axle was low on oil. He didn't mention the reason why but I'll pass along your problem the next time I see him.

I have a 4400 with 65 hours. Started leaking at about 50 hours. I have not taken it in yet because I have been using it. On mine the oil is leaking out of the front axle and traveling back down the front drive shaft. When it leaks it looks like it is leaking from the transmission. I'll let you know when I get it fixed. It's going to be a month or so. See ya
