JD Generator

Your gas genset should be chained to a tree. Perhaps the same for the running tractor?

I live off the grid, and the portable generator would be a back up to my electrical system, which consists of solar panels, a micro hydrogenerator, and a stationary diesel 6kw generator. All these power sources dump DC or AC power into a battery bank (16 golf cart batteries wired in series and in parallel to provide a 48 V system) via a transformer/inverter. The house is wired normally for 115V. I have a 7 kw gas-powered generator but it's in the barn a considerable distance away from the house and is so heavy I have to move it around by tractor bucket. Ergo the interest in an easily portable unit to back up the stationary genset. Because I can store the power, I don't envision the generator running for more than three hours at a time. And anyone trying to rip off my tractor, or anything else for that matter, can say hello to Mr. Garand.

Thanks to all for your comments and observations.
