I got an Agri-Fab broadcast spreader recently for my JD D110 and want to know what everyone else's opinion is about them. Did I make the right choice or should I have went with a Deere attachment? It still looks great. If you don't know about Agri-Fab spreaders you can go to this link: www.agri-fab.com - Spreaders

I also posted a video of my little girl pulling it around with her tractor: ‪Little Girl Riding John Deere Tractor‬‏ - YouTube

The problems with that spreader or any other tow-behind is that when they get down to nearly empty and you pull the feed lever, the wheels can jam and skip or narrow openings of the door will let seed or fertilizer jam and it takes a bit of towing to get things started. The best way is to let it run continously, but don't dare stop or slow down because you will overdo it in one spot and dump a bunch of seeds or burn your grass with too much fertilizer. Reaching around to get the feed lever is also a pain. You need a long remote that you can hold in your hand and open/close without reaching back. I've considered a 12vdc solenoid powered door for mine but haven't done the southern engineering to rig it up yet.:D

Realistically, how much do you use it? Most people fertilize maybe three times and lime once or twice. As long as it works and you are happy with it, thats all that matters. The John Deere ones are Brinly-Hardy's painted green instead of black with a 20% markup.
