JD 990 puffed blue smoke

Hi there, can someone help?

My daughter was cutting the lawn on our JD990 when all of a sudden the engine began to cough and sputter and blow out a cloud of blue smoke. After that it ran for hours with no problems. This has never happen before. Is this something to be concerned about?

It sounds like you had an injector sticking. It might be a good idea to run some fuel conditioner to help clean and lube the injectors. Otherwise, if it is running good now, I wouldn't be concerned about it.

that happend to my 990 i was pussing a stump out tractor strained blue smoke for a second then it ran ok for years.
