Hi. I have a JD855 with the 72 inch mower deck. It has worked perfectly for years, but recently started losing PTO drive while mowing. It is not the drive disconnecting as the magnet is still engaged. When it happens I can hear the load come off the motor and the deck sounds like it is free wheeling, until it eventually stops. The brake does not come on until I disengage the PTO drive. Disengage and engage the PTO drive and it will work until the next drop out. I think it is load dependent although if I leave it running with no load it will free wheel after a minute or so. I suspect a problem with the PTO clutch piston or clutch because the PTO brake and Delay Relief valve are working normally - implying no problems with hydraulic pressure, correct? Any thoughts before I start pulling the back end apart? Thanks in advance, it is mid summer here and the grass is growing fast.
