I had a 1983 or so JD 750
It was a positive ground system
JD 650/750's came from factory negative ground on battery. Parts key # CH15195 Cable POSITIVE

Yes, I realize there are very few. I found out the hard way on this unit when I hooked up a battery charger as you normally would - negative to ground and blew the fuse in the battery charger.
that's why you hook up chargers according to battery polarity, and ignore chassis polarity....
Except every charger I've ever used, including my Snap-On professional charger, tells one to connect the positive cable first to battery '+' and then the ground cable to a solid chassis ground, NOT to the battery '-' post due to chance of sparking hydrogen gasses from the battery.... :confused3::confused2:

i have to agree with rick.. that's bad advice.
if you are worried about a spark at the battery... leave the charger OFF when making cable clamp connections.. THEN turn it on...
