I've found a John Deere 550 5ft tiller for sale. I'm mostly going to be tilling my garden and maybe a few others gardens. Is this a realiable tiller? I would think with it being green it is probably worth a few hundred. I believe it is chain driven. What are the benefits of chain driven versus gear driven? I would assume gear driven would be more durable. Also is this an offset tiller? Any info? Thanks fellas!

I've had a 550 tiller for 10 years. Bought it and my JD955 used. Never a problem with it. Yes it is chain drive and it does offset. I till a 5,000 sq ft garden, several neighbor's gardens and also prepped 3 rocky acres for lawn with it. My brother's tree nursery also has used it from time to time. All in all, a good tiller.
