JD 54" deck mod

Been having trouble keeping the right front deck wheel bracket straight, as it would want to flex back when the depth wheel contacts a small root, or bumps into an obstacle.
The constant flexing was going to end up in a metal failure and require welding for a fix.

I decided to make a bracket that would tie the front wheel to the rear wheel such that the front one could not bend back. Had two bushings cut to drop over the wheel posts and a steel strap welded across the top of each bushing. Then drilled the bushings for a through-bolt. This mod seems to be working real well to date.

I don't want anything there to stop the grass from flowing out smoothly and evenly, which it does now. Nothing I dislike more than clumps of mowed grass.
Have had the open chute now for 8 acres of lawn for about 40 years now (the deflectors hang in the shed) and not thrown a rock yet that has caused damage. Careful to go around trees in a way so nuts, sticks, and stones don't ricochet off and back at me.

And for sure, do not mow when anyone is around. Not like can be seen when watching others mow, with kids playing in the yard as they mow.

Seems your chain mod would clump the grass, but maybe not. A pic or two of the mowed area would help show how it works.
Maybe windrow'd grass is good, and easy to sweep up that way?
