I purchased my JD 5100R in 2017 new. It came with R1 tires, can I put R14 tires on without changing the rims?

It will depend on your existing tire sizes, not all sizes are made in the R14 pattern.
From Titan a listing of the available R14 sizes.

14.9 R24 metric size equivalent of 14.9R24 is 380/85R24.
tire size 18.4R35 in inches is equivalent to approximately 462/75R35 in metric

the 35" rear is not a common size, actually I've never heard of a 35" rim for tractor tires.
from tractor data . com
John Deere 5100R Tires
Standard tires (ag)Front: 480/65R24. Rear: 540/65R38
Have you considered the BKT ridemax tires, I put a set of them on my Branson 8050 last year.

Do you know that for sure ??
Guess I wouldn’t bet my life on it especially after the OP states the rears are 35” rims, which like Lou I’ve never heard of . I’m going to assume there actually 24” front and 34” rears. Titan makes a 460/85R34 and 380/85R24 which is one combo I think may work. Nokian makes a 480/80R34 and 400/80R24 which is another combo I think may work, I saw this Nokian combo on a 5100M used tractor at a local Deere dealer. GoodYear, Trellborg, BKT and Firestone may have other combos that would work. If the OP would post a picture of his sidewalls so we could know for sure what he’s got would be most helpful. Here’s a picture of the 5100M I saw

Yep correct Lou snows , the standard 14’s Nokians I believe have same tread pattern but don’t have the sipes cut in the lugs.

Rims are stamped with their size, I believe.

Can you? Probably
Should you? Well you not only have to focus on a size that will fit not just the rim (diameter and width) but the space the manufacture allowed for tire clearance. Then you get into rolling circumference ratio which is important for your 4x4 function.

I think the manual lists the supported tire size combinations. I'd start there. Then look up the specs for the R4 tires to see what rim sizes can be used with the R4s. Then see if that's what you have.

I think it's unlikely the rims will work, but you might get lucky.
