JD 4610 throttle

How do I adjust the throttle tension? The throttle moves from desired rpm to idle when operating.

My 4410 did the same thing. All I did was take apart the dash by the throttle enough so that I could slip a wrench down to the throttle and tighten the bolt that goes through the throttle pivot point. It didn't take much tightening and the problem was gone.

I don't know if yours is the same as my 4410 but I just removed the blolts (screws) that I could and then by bending the plastic panel I could get my hand in with a small wrench. It wasn't a comfortable job but it worked. I got in from on top.

Rusty, your 4610 should have a steering gear cover held on with 3 or 4 screws. The cover is a "U" shaped piece of sheet metal like that pictured #6

. Tightening nut #7 should get it tighter. If the friction disc #4 has oil on it, it will have to be replaced.

If you oiled the friction disk I've fixed them by cleaning them up ( break fluid or asitone should do it).
