JD 4400 Wet Disc Brake Problem

I have a new JD 4400 tractor. The brakes hang up and the pedal is very stiff. I've done car brakes before, but never heard of wet disc brakes before. Does anyone have any experience here they would be willing to share? Thanks.

Carefully examine all external linkages and pivots. Chances are greater that the problem is external than internal, unless you are using an incompatible or water-laden oil in your transmission/hydraulic system.

My friend has a 4400, and has had problems with the brake return springs breaking, Very easy fix.

After some playing with the tractor, it seems that they work fine after she warms up.

In that case i would check that the oil used is correct for your climate .
