JD 4400 splitting

hi new here and after some advise ect

so the front drive shaft seal is leaking and theres a fair bit of play in the shaft up and down side to side so i ordered seals bearings clips the lot

im pretty handy with tools thats not the issue, my issue is finding the correct procedures on splitting the tractor and then order of how to replace bearings and seals
replacing 19 18 17 16 20

I would think that it would be easier to move
the axle forward than splitting the tractor but
then again I never worked on a tractor just

unfortunately to replace the seal the tractor has to be split, you just cant get in there with anything and the seal wont come out due to the casing covering the lower part

Just be careful splitting. I've split some big ones. Get weights and loader off front half. I usually roll front part away from back part, leave rear stationary. Block rear wheels so no rolling. Put a jack under rear and Jack under front. I put my front jack on a base with wheels. It is the bottom of an engine crane. I take crane apart and use base when I split a tractor. Floor jacks are too much of a pain with the handle. My base has four steel casters.

I had to split our 4300 to replace the HST linkage. PDF copies of the manual can be had for $40 or so. You may want to fab some splitting jacks. Here is a pic of the set I cobbled together from steel scraps, allthread, and some HF casters. The front end jacks mount to the floor frame mounting pads.
