Lost the top spindle bearing on the right side knuckle drive. Not happy with JD parts on this. Super expensive and main axle drive gear not available. Not available from Spicer either. After two days of research, I did find a matched set, used.

So, with JD parts and about 4 other vendors, I think I have everything on the way, dang what a struggle.

sad JD is supporting these tractors less and less. and the parts need at this age is more and more.

Had a delay, I ordered a wrong seal. Parts book is vague on it and offers two. The one I ordered/received is totally wrong. This one is right so I should get it back together today. Then I can remove and repair the left side.

I have been doing tons of research and it appears that the spindle assembly is the same as the 4049 series. The axles are different but the spindle housings all have the same numbers. The gears for the 4049 are sold as a set and are available. Top set and bottom set. Pretty sure they are the same gears but not positive.

If that is the case, I wonder why the 4320 gears don't show as superseded to the new 2 gear sets? I need to talk to a sharp parts guy, either JD or Spicer.

One side down, one to go, it will be easier. It has been a struggle, with parts availability, me ordering wrong or flat forgetting:(

Typical Spicer, three sets of shim kits for three different locations, for bearing/gear adjustment, $400:eek: Only good news, is, it should be enough shims to repair the other side. I hope it is in better shape.

Finished up the left side. Two bearings, three gears and both seals. I will leave it set overnight so the RTV will cure, then fill it with oil, then let it set a while longer. If no leaks, I will tighten the tie rods and install the tires. I still need to check the axle vent.

Edit:

The parts book shows it #SU52604 but I can't find it on the axle at all. This guy says they don't have them.

Front spindle seals on 1025R leaking. Vent needed?
