JD 420 Front wheel spindle replacement

I replaced the front tires, and the C clips are worn out. The spindles themselves are a bit worn and I thought "hey maybe I should replace the spindles TOO!"
Well...I look online and they are pricing them at $358 EACH.


Suggestions? I could probably get them fabricated for cheaper. Seems dumb. Seems like something I could find elsewhere maybe?

Could they be the same as the ones on a 430?
If so, can you post a picture, as I have an extra set I bought when my 430 broke the right front spindle. I can measure the spindle diameter, because I think, depending on serial number, they could either be metric or SAE, and just enough different they won't interchange.

Yes, there were 1" and 25mm spindles, bearings and wheels.
SN 362062 and above were 25mm. Below were 1".

There are at least 15 used spindles listed on the eBay starting around $50 or so and there are many shops also selling directly all kinds of used JD 400 series parts!

I should have it yet. I'll take a look tomorrow and let you know. I'll measure the spindle size, I don't remember if it's inch or metric.

Sorry, but the one I have is for the right side. I thought I had a pair, but I only have the one for the right side.
