JD 4115 vs. Kubota B2630

Ok, so this thread kind of quickly spun out of control. Just to reiterate, the purpose of this thread was originally to see if there was justifcation of the $2000 the price difference between the JD 4115 and the Kubota B2630. I then realized that maybe a comparison with the B7610 was a bit more justified because these machines are more similar, sans some of the extras you get with the JD like position control. However, there's a $4000 difference between the JD 4115 and B7610 and I can't see enough "extras" in the JD to account for it.

Yes, I'm probably better served with the B7610 when only size, weight, and performance are considered. I was mainly looking at other options for position control, but it seems that won't be possible without too big a price, size, and weight increase. I wish they still made the B2410. It's just like the B7610, but with some of the extras I want like position control and rear hydraulic outlet. I would gladly pay the extra $2k for one, and then this search would be over.

My question would be: what are they trying to hide if they refuse to participate in an industry standard that even most shortliners participate in.

Secondly, I would review your pricing. Apples to apples again, things like the mid PTO, alternators, etc. Its certainly no where near the $3000 you quote.

Obviously the path of least resistence is to sell on price, selling the features and the longterm benefits to the customer does take a bit more effort but in the long run, the customer will thank you for it.

Wow... I had no idea that Kubota didn't put their tractors through the Nebraska test. For them to say in that article that "there is not a market for that tractor in Nebraska" is ridiculous. I agree with JT, Kubota should put their tractors through this test in order to maintain their credibility and integrity.

All I can say is that both are excellent machines. My family (not including in-laws) has been in agriculture since 1947 and we have owned nothing but International Harvester and John Deere. We have always had good luck with both. There have been a couple of instances where something either broke or was deffective and both John Deere and IH were right there to stand behind there machine. The JD dealer even drove 60 miles round trip to pick up and deliver a tractor that had an ailment. JD warranty does not cover transportation, but the dealer ate that cost. As long as Deere keeps treating us like they have, there will be nothing but green on our place.
My point is that since both JD and Kubota are close in quality, you need to make your decision based upon: 1). which machine is more comfortable for you, 2): which dealer is going to take care of you 6 months or two years after you bought your tractor, and 3): cost. $2k isn't allot over the life of a finance, but 2k is 2k.

Check out the link at the bottom, please explain to me why kubota does not partake in the nebraska testing, certainly looks like they are hiding something. Perhaps not, but everyone else participates.

Simple, the limit is 100Hp tractors and above. Kubota only has ever had a handful tractors that would qualify and they sell very few of them. I would guess that they probably won't recover the costs of the testing with the few units that they would move in that state.

Like I said, I recently bought a load cell and am working on putting together some test results on compacts. Its going to take some time to get a good amount of data compiled, but so far everything that I have tested has exceded the specs.

I'll try to focus on your question: "Is the Deere worth the difference?"

Last November I purchased a 4310 and found it to be within $500 of a Kubota L3400. My situation is that my brother bought the L3400 a month before I bought the Deere. I went to the local dealer and told him I was looking for a Kubota since I was sure the Deere would be too high priced. He smiled, and said he didn't think so.
Now I didn't pay list price and probably got a great deal from what experience now shows me was an even better dealer.

The bottom line to me is that the Deere is a nice machine, but not worth $2,000 more for a smilar Kubota. I do feel that the Deere is more ergonomically designed and is a bit more comfortable to work on. But the Kubota is a beast that really takes punishment. I don't think you can go wrong with either machine. If the choice were mine, I would let the price be the deciding factor. (I'll probably get flamed from the Deere owners on that statement /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif )

I'll tell ya, I don't know what your Nebraska testing is, and don't care. When you stated that "no Kubota has the PTO power of your NH", and that Kubota tractors are clearly inferior, you completely lost any credibility with me. As I said, I've owned new JD's, Kubota's, and NH's. All three are of very high quality. Your comments do not paint you into a category of having even the slightest bit of credibility. I've been around too long and owned too many tractors to even pay even the slightest bit of attention to people who spew obviously uneducated, and clearly wrong, comments such as yours. Sorry Dude.
