John Deere 2520
My JD 2520 is 14 years old now. It's far from worn out, but reaching the point where I'm curious about the idea of trading it in for a new one.

I'm surprised though, that it looks like not much has changed over the last 15 years. The equivalent new John Deere would probably be the 2032r which is a bit more horsepower, but I don't see many new innovations or new competitors. Kubota seems to be mostly unchanged too in the last 15 years as far as I can tell.

I currently do mid-mount mowing, snow blowing, rototilling, and blade/loader work on my two acres. I rarely need anything bigger than my current tractor, but I'm looking for options.

What am I missing?

Other than emission stuff added not much. You can get self level loader in several brands, about the most useful thing, other than remote hydro hookups that is showing up.

Not JD or Kubota, but Massey now has a 2520 sized machine with cab and AC/Heat. This is also a 25HP tractor so no emissions controls (I think). I don't know of any other tractors this size with a cab. Pretty limited in PTO power (20.1) but very close to 2520.

Don't really know much about Massey's reliability, etc., but I find this to be very interesting.

Boy,if there is nothing wrong with your 2520, why would you think about another unless you needed bigger? I love mine and if I needed bigger, I would keep the 2520 for smaller work and just get the larger for even bigger work.

The 2032r and 2038r are solid tractors. The mid mount mower not so much. They have a fancy name I can’t recall for the height setting. It works great until it doesn’t. There is a little electric actuator that goes bad and is over a $1000 to replace. I’m not sure if JD has fixed it or not. Some people have replaced it more than once.

I own a 2025r and the deck is hooked up to the three point by mechanical linkage and seems to be fool proof.

It seems that anything electrical now adays you need
a bank to replace the item.

The less electronic items in your vehicle the less problems
