Mad 4100
Hello all and belated Happy New Year !
My 1989 4100 hydro will not start in below 30 degrees. The dealer want 300 for just the parts alone. Then they want to install it in the absolute worst area possible. My question can you use the relatively easy to access 1 in NPT opening on the opposite side, below the exhaust manifold. Seems most JD tractors use the 1 in opening. Engine is Yanmar 3TNE74. Thanks for your input.

Wondering why you are not installing it where you want it to go ??

I have been hesitant to remove the plug in fear it might break the casting or strip out the threads. Also unsure of the clearance behind the plug.

Then I'd suggest to go with the dealer's plan. They may know best.

Thanks
I know where jd wants it but you have to be Houdini to get at that area. Tractor is outside and it’s to cold to tackle right now. Was hoping someone could tell me if the other port would work.
