John Deere 112, John Deere 3010D
Hello, I have a newly acquired John Deere 3010 Diesel (24volt). Right away I had the generator repaired. I fired up the tractor for the first time. Come to find out I was supposed to set the polarity on the voltage regulator. As a result of not doing it, I fried the wire that runs from the battery terminal on the regulator, to the key switch, to the solenoid. I also fried the starter, regulator, and generator. I replaced everything I fried. Now, nothing happens when I turn the key. I also don't get power to the lights at all. The batteries are good. Also I have 24 volts at the starter, the key and the regulator. All of the wiring connections appear good. I don't see any fuses that may have blown. What do I do now? Any help would be very much appreciated.

I find it difficult to believe that not polarizing the regulator caused all that damage. I think something else caused the damage. Does your tractor have the "field installed" circuit breakers mounted on the starter?? It's too late now but if it was my tractor and not intended as a total restore I would have changed the electric system to 12 volts. On the not stating issue have you checked for continuity on the neutral start switch in the dash on RH side? Technically the key & light switch should have 12 volts each on posts batt. A & batt. B respectfully. With the aid of a "remote starter switch" can engine be started? If in the event a "remote starter switch" isn't available one can "VERY CAREFULLY with trans in neutral" ,an operator sitting in the seat with clutch pedal depressed short across from the"S" terminal on solenoid to upper large post to determine if engine will actually spin over.
