The brakes recently started grinding on my 3010D. Do I just need to replace shoes? I have several small farm jobs I need to use the machine for right now so I am reluctant to get into replacing brakes right now. I am putting myself at risk of major damage if I continue to use it in a manner where I brake as little as possible but still use them as is?

If metal fines from brake disk gets into hyd system then every hyd function including frt hyd pump, steering & SCV's will need to be disassembled, cleaned and reset. If it was my tractor it would be repaired or parked. You can check for metal fines by checking trans sump screen accessed on LH side of trans located between hyd filter & rear axle housing.

Are the brakes grinding or chattering. It's common for JD brakes in those years of tractors to chatter. Are you using the proper hydraulic oil?
