I'd like to check the timing on my 3010. I slipped the access plate aside and have a clear view of the flywheel. But I can see no timing marks of any kind. What am I looking for exactly?

As you are looking in the access hole, there should be a mark on the left side of the opening. You might need to clean off some clutch dirt and dust from the casting to see it. Then on the surface of the flywheel, there should be a few marks around the diameter designating TDC, 10 degrees, 14 degrees, 120 degrees and 240 degrees if diesel, and at least TDC, and 26 degrees for a gas engine.

Great, thanks, that's very helpful. I'll give it a shot this weekend. The motor now runs fine with a new Zenith carb, but I'd like to know if the timing is right.
