Sorry Ricko54, I completely ignored your post and went off on my own tangent. There was really no need for any of my comments related to your post. Other member's comment were more than sufficient. sorry

While shopping for my first tractor, I admit I did a lot of drooling while driving past the John Deere and Kubota dealerships near my house. Then my father-in-law complicated matters even more when he bought a Massey Ferguson and showed it to me. It's tough to choose when all are very nice machines.

My situation is somewhat similar to yours. I have 2 1/2 acres but most of it is packed full of 80 foot pine and maple trees and so little of it is lawn that I cut it with a push mower. My needs were a bucket on the front, a wood chipper on the back, and possibly a snow blower on the front in the future once my 32-inch JD snowblower wears out its welcome. My Wallenstein BX42 chipper arrives this Tuesday so I don't know how that's going to work out yet but I can say that the bucket has already served me well in several situations and I have no complaints about the tractor. If it's true that the 2520 is being phased out, leaving just the 2320 and the 2720, it's probably just a horsepower decision because the tractors are so similar otherwise. I've never used a tiller so I'd like to know how that works out for you. My industrial tire tread does do some damage if I wander onto the lawn so turf tires would be good for that application, but I've heard mixed reviews as far as snow traction. I take it that you've decided the sub-compacts are too small for what you want? I made the jump to the 2000 series for the same reason you described. I didn't want to have to worry about overloading or overworking the thing and for what I'm using it for I don't think that will be a problem. Either way, good luck with your decision.

Just got the call back from the Yanmar dealer...they don't want to sell one. $18k difference for an SX3100 with my BX2200 trade. JD dealer is $12k for a 2720. Make your own conclusions on how much the green middle man takes...

Sorry, back to the original post's topic. :)

Sorry to highjack the post so bad. But, finally called the JD dealer up here. 2720 tractor with loader and deck 31,000. Yanmar dealer 23,000 tractor loader and deck. Yes. Green paint. Although, I wish i had.your jd dealer up here. Sounds like they deal instead of sick it to ya, then i might be interested in green. Resale value... seen a lot of john Deere compacts with no loaders on craigslist sitting for way too long. Any compact tractor out there has good resale value, but if there's no loader I it's worthless.

You want the number to my dealer? He has a 2520 left on the lot, and my money is that he would have it to you, delivered and on your doorstep for a couple thousand less than the $23k your dealer wants for the Yanmar. My price, outright, for tractor, loader, mower was $20k. I know it's a few less HP than the Yanmar (I bought the last 2720 they had), but the rest of the tractor is the same.
