I believe we would have been better off with a X749 if it was not for the ROPS.

I agree, from the appearances you do some brutal work with the 2305.

I don't care about the rops on the rider as I have no intentions of getting on slopes that would cause concern. All the other tractors do have protection though.

I'm sure a clever fabricator could build a ROPS for the 'X' series. I know I'd be looking into doing that if I had one.

We do use our equipment pretty hard.

Since that picture, my son has taken down five ice storm damaged trees and has a couple more to do, so we don't have to look up while mowing.

JDTank,

I have owned and mowed extensively with an X series 485,495,720,and 595. I have had both the 54 and 62c mower decks. I am a big fan of the X series tractors. They are Cadillacs and awesome machines. My online infatuation with them is well known, but I can say that the 2320 is a better mowing machine than the X series on the lawns that I do. It is faster, even in A range, the large tires make for a smoother ride, it SEEMS to have more power, though this likely is an illusion, it lacks a RIO switch and cuts as well or slightly better. I cannot peak to the 2210 or 2305 and how it mows in comparison, but this is a very different machine than a 2320. My point with interjecting this is that a potential buyer who may be interested getting a true compact tractor (I view the 2320 as the initial true compact made by JD) and a sub compact or top end GT but is afraid it may not mow well, may be interested in considering something like a 2320 for only a tiny bit more money. My dealer even was advising people that the X series was a "10 times" better mowing machine than a 2305 or 2320 but is now second-guessing that advice. While X series tractors are great mowing machines and a true pleasure to use, the 2320 as an example is a great mowing machine and worth consideration.

I have a 2305 and it perfect for me as my main use is mowing and blowing. If I had a larger piece of land I would have went with a 2520. I feel if your getting a larger tractor it should probably have more power. Thats just my opinion. All good machines! If its green can it be wrong?

My 2520 is pretty darn big for a lawnmower, and its not alot bigger than a 2320. just my opinion. I have R4 tires tho, so maybe turfs would not cut in at all.....?

Deadman, I do feel as though I am sitting up a bit when using the 2320 v. my ZTR or an X series machine, but these 2020 series tractors are so maneuverable it operates as a smaller machine. For a tiny lawn, I think it would be too much, but I figure most folks looking at such machines do not have tiny lawns. The 2520 if I recall is a fair bit longer than a 2320 which may make it seem a bit on the large side. My tractor has R4 tires, and does not tear up grass at all, though it will compress the grass and dirt when the ground is wet, but really only when almost too wet to mow. I suspect the turf would be better in that case, but I also do a fair amount of loader work and do not wish to limit that.

Just purchased a 2520 and 62D mmm. I can mow closer and turn sharper with this than my JD317 with 48" deck. Plus 2x faster and smoother, very impressed with this as a mowing machine. My FIL tried it and was also impressed. He thought it would be too big and clumsy, but after trying it he had a big smile on his face and said he couldn't believe how agile it was.
