My father-in-law has just come into possison of a JD 2240. What year was this tractor made? What HP gross and PTO?
Paints a little faded but she runs great.

Looks like the late '76 - '82, and about 50 HP.

Run a search on "Deere 2240" and a number of hits come up.

beenthere is correct, my data on the John Deere 2240 backs up his data.
Just make a note that the 50.9 horsepower is the "true" horsepower: PTO horsepower. Not the smoke & mirrors gross horsepower. That completes my sermon for today.

There should be an ID plate on the r\h side,ser# will determine year-tractortips also has some info on the years made-good tractor though-how many hours in the meter? does it work properly
