JD 2 row corn planter

I have an old JD 2 row corn planter that I'm trying to find info on,
1st, is there a name/model plate somehere on it?
2nd if so, where is this?

If so, then it is a 290 model. Otherwise could be a 246 if it is older model.

I have one of these(290) that I plan to use for the first time this spring. Have you used one before and do you have any suggestions or tricks? I also need to match seed to the plates that I have.

Check with your seed dealer for the right plates, or your Deere dealer parts guys for some help.

What plate does your seed ask for?

Right now all my seed (corn & beans), planter and plates are at the farm. While on the net I found TBN joined and was surprised to get the quick respones so I'm unprepared and thank you for the quick reply! Obviously I'm not a farmer (using a JD 290) but a hunter with some family farm background that has 30 acres of plantable ground that I plant in food plots and this year I wanted to plant some corn and beans. Any help is appreciated. I'm also a rookie forum user!
