JD 1508 Batwing Serial Number .. HELP!!

Does anyone know where the serial number for this mower should be?

I've looked all over the frame, along the tounge, I can't find it anywhere.

Need to get gearbox parts, but they are based on the serial number.

Ideas?

Pictures, Drawings?

JD dealer says look here or there .. but there is nothing there!

Sadly, yes, I mean Serial Number. Its model number is 1508.

They made three different gear boxes for the 1508, based on serial number.

The outer gear box case is common to all three models so the part number stamped on it doesn't help me, its the internal guts, and the connection to the blades, and input shaft that differ.

Without the serial number finding the right reman gear box will be very difficult, and deere won't do any leg work for me without the serial number.
