Snow JD 1025r Front Mount Snow Blower Instilation

Just wanted to post a note about the instillation of a front mount snow blower on my 1025r. It is very easy to convert over but am a little disappointed that I had to remove my MMM Hydraulic lift to get the drive shaft attached. I think I could have just put the lift in the full down position but then would run the chance of it being jammed up into the shaft.

I think I had to remove the lift - anyone know if I should have just dropped it into the down position and called it a day?

Beside removing the lift the rest of the instillation was about 20 min because the freaking thing ways a TON

If you're switching from mowing to blowing a lot, you could modify your MMM lift arms for manual connect. It would allow you to keep the MMM lift in place while you snow blow. If it's just once a year, be happy with AutoConnect!

You do NOT need to remove the hydraulic lift. You do need to remove the rear shaft/rod that runs side to side. It has a 18 mm hex nut on each end. Sorry I don't know the metric crap to say the correct thread size. But anyway just remove that shaft/rod will require one side lift arm to have a pin dropped down to get enough clearance to extract the shaft. Return the lift arm and pin as the rest can stay in place. I just finished installing my blower on 1023E.

Now if you have automatic driveshaft coupling, that has to be removed.

Thank you - That is what I was going to do but the JD person convinced me that because of the pins on the Hydraulic lift it would be easier to just remove the entire lift. I like your way much better

It would make no sense to remove the entire lift. Only the shaft/rod I mentioned is in the way. Good to be able to share what I found was an easier way. If JD had designed the shaft/rod with an offset to clear the blower drive shaft it could have stayed assembled.

Bundi....genesusie is correct - I just did this on my 1026R for the first time last weekend. Leave the lift kit on except for the cross bar. I found the easiest way to get it out is take off the left side lift bracket, pull out the cross bar & drive shaft.

I called my dealer & he confirmed this is the easiest way to do it.
