Not sure if this is the right forum or not but here goes.

I have a HUGE pile of bricks that I had dumped on my property that I plan on using to create a non muddy trail through some rather wet soiled woods. I had planned on just busting them up with a sledge and when funds allowed I would top that w/ some crusher run to make it smooth. However after some research I really like the idea of a jaw crusher either electric, gas, or PTO driven to crush the brick to whatever size aggregate I need. Plus I can get a virtually unlimted amount of free brick from demo companies, craigslist, construction contacts... this could save me thousands throughout the development of my property.

the problem is NOBODY has prices listed let alone a place where I can see them, find parts, read reccomendations... Ebay is the closest, but they only ship straight from china to a port of my choice and that makes me nervous.

Does anybody own one? Use one? Have a reference to where I can buy one? Do any of the attachement companies make one that's PTO driven? Doesn't need to be massive, or even be able to handle large material. I just don't know where to turn now.

No one makes anything that small sadly as there is no market for it. Even the smallest jaw crusher approaches $750,000.00
before it is installed.

Dont know if even renting a small track mounted crusher is in your future
simply because you need to rent machine to load the bricks in the crusher

With your situation-

rather than crushing them perhaps making the path with stone dust first and then
placing the bricks in the stone dust and then filling the space between the bricks
to secure them is the best way.

It will certainly save you thousands of dollars as crusher rentals are very very expensive
for daily rentals. they can run into a thousand dollars a day quickly if you include delivery, fuel and set up fees.

Laying the brick will not work... ground is to soft and if you have ever messed w/ demo brick it comes in chunks w/ mortar all over the place.

Sounds like you need to call a quarry and see if they would run a load at a time for you? You might be better off making a powered hammer?

Not sure how I would have any sort of production speed w/ a power hammer.

It defeats the purpose to have to load it up haul it off, reload, and haul it back.

Have you thought about renting something like a dozer with tracks? Just driving over them will break them up quite a bit. But if the ground is soft then larger blocks will help.

That might work fine for just the base, but would be difficult to make a nice surface. Its amazing that SOMEONE doesn't import these already

use the bricks as a base ... cover with crushed stone then stone dust ....

crushers are big and NOISY ... and break often ...

small ones would take forever to process the bricks ...

The rattle can paint job is brand new, but is this a used unit that someone is trying to pass off as new?

Chinese stuff has little to no support unless someone is importing as a dealer. RUN for the hills and hunker down. Save your money on this one.

I'm not seeing how it could be any faster with what you've linked to. You say you have a HUGE pile of material. The hopper is only 4"x6". Wouldn't you be feeding the brick fragments by hand, one or two at a time? :confused3: Even if that little thing would hold up to much crushing, which I doubt, think about how long it takes to chip up a 2" poplar branch in 5 hp, or even 8 hp, residential chipper/shredder.
