It would seem like in ND with all the drilling related activity going on you would have no problem finding the equipment.

I still say, for a 2' or 3' rock, just dig the thing out and move on. I wouldn't trust something that small to be the anchor point of a post that large, especially since it's not below the frost line.

Your post made me go back and look. I thought it was much larger. After reviewing I fully agree with you.

Simply drill into the rock and attach some rebar or all thread with epoxy or some sort of adhesive in the hole. Then use the rebar to attach the post. if its wood simply weld a piece of pipe to the pieces of rebar sticking out of the rock and slide the wood post in place and use lags to secure the post. in the pipe.
