“Walmart and highline Warren lost a 10M class action suit over this same oil label where they advertised it as 303 ingredient (sperm whale oil)”

I think you got your stories mixed up.
First off , nobody lost a lawsuit for labeling it 303 oil. The oils were correctly labeled 303 , but incorrectly stated they were suitable for higher demand applications.

If you run any modern expensive machine you care about, you would know, you never , ever, use low grade 303 oil.

Secondly, it wasn’t specifically a Warren problem , It was mostly Citgo who made the product, and it was sold under various labels, including Supertech 303.
Don’t use 303 oil in a modern machine, no matter who makes it

Pretty intense for a first post. I'm not buying one bit of it. Pics of filters, screens, the drained oil and the substance that "plugged the transmission up" would be helpful. Not the generic AI pics that are there.

It's not even worth discussing OEM vs aftermarket fluids specific to JD unless there's some reality to this.

Milky fluid? Wonder if someone bought the hydraulic fluid, used it and retuned it with junk oil or even some water?
I think there was another thread recently where someone bought Travelers oil from Tractor Supply and it had water in it.

I had a problem with hydraulic oil from tractor supply a while back. 5000 Ford tractor in 6 months time had to change out fluid 3 times until I figured out what was going on. The fluid is designed to absorb a certain amount of water with no problem and then it just cooks off. At first I blamed condensation because tractor kept inside. Then when I was in TSC looking at stuff in their outside lot there sat a skid of oil completely uncovered with rain water on top of the buckets 😵‍💫
Got next batch of oil someplace else and problem over.

Thanks everyone but I was looking for no politics, deliberations, judgements, or condescending opinions. Perhaps this is not the right forum for large modern ag equipment.
Sorry you had some negative replies. Personally I used walmart engine oil in everything here. Have for years with no problems.

Yep, cause now I have no idea what all the hullabaloo is all about….
I agree. The title, thread, and all its content have been gutted to the point of no value. I don't know if the OP edited it, or the site team, but it's all kind of useless now.

The OP basically dumped 10 gallons of Walmart hydraulic oil into his expensive ag machinery, showed some vague pictures of almost certainly water contaminated oil, and quoted some partially correct information about the 303 oil debacle of about a decade ago. I believe he is going to have Walmart replace all of his equipment.
He edited out the original post. In his defence, the forum was a little rough on him.
I believe that sums it up.

Yes, I saw the original post, but I think anyone coming along now won't be able to make heads or tales of it.

In my opinion, unless there was a clear oil type incompatibility, the mixed oils should not have reacted as shown. So whether there is no abnormality in the WM oil, it was defective in some way, was returned waste oil as some speculated, I don't know, and I suppose we never will know. My only take away was that 1) the oil was sampled and tested, 2) if those results could have in any way pointed the finger at the OP, Walmart would not have settled with him.

Yes, waiting to get Deere oil would have been the ideal course of action, but when you have a machine down and work to do, sometimes compromises have to be made. If the WM oil met the Deere specs, I would have used it too in an emergency situation, and I would not have expected any adverse reaction. This is why we have oil specifications. Did the oil meet Deere specs? We don't know. The OP selected it because there was a picture of a Deere tractor on the label. That is not good due diligence, and may have been the fatal turn. But that picture is also suggestive compatibility from Walmart... It's complicated.

I think the moral of the story is:

1) Check spec requirements carefully, and know what your machine requires.

2) Be sure any fluids you buy are factory sealed before using them.

3) Plan on being blamed for whatever the problem is by some people when you post about it on TBN.
