Re: I've gotta kill that @#$% Fox!!!
Thursday a large Fox snatched a leghorn right in front of my oldest daughter, 30' from treeline in our side yard at about 1pm. Today while we were at a lunch at Church, it seems to have snagged my duaghters FAVORITE chicken {they trained her to answer to her names and jump for peanuts) right in the center of the back yard. It also seems that two red hens have vanished in same period.

Dang!
Real sorry to hear you lost the chickens. The chickens are pets to the wife and the youngest. The youngest has a favorite she carries into the house...
If she lost that chicken she would be very upset.
May I suggest a Chicken Tank?

I think I mentioned in the Chicken Tank thread about foxes. In case I did not, here it goes. :licking:
For years we had a family of foxes living in front of us. Our drive way runs east/west and the den was to the east. The driveway ends but a trail continues west until it hits our property line that runs north/south. The property line is cleared and it and the driveway made a perfect fox/coyote highway.
I started finding piles of white feathers and broken eggs. The foxes where raiding a chicken house somewhere to our south west. One Sunday morning I was cooking breakfast and I saw a fox heading west. I told the family that there goes the fox looking for HIS breakfast.

It was not long before I saw the fox heading east bound for the den with a white Leghorn chicken.

I told the family that the fox was heading down the driveway with a chicken. The fox heard me and dropped the chicken. The kids wanted to see the dead chicken so out we went.
We were not in the house more then 5-10 minutes and the chicken disappeared.
Eventually the people keeping chickens cooped up the birds or the fox ate them all because I stopped seeing eggs, white feathers and dead birds.
Later,
Dan
